Groups can be deleted in the settings.

 

Go to System -> Settings -> Resources -> Group.

 

Highlight the group you wish to delete and then click on Delete group.  Only groups without links can be deleted.

In order to prevent "accidental" deletion, the deletion must be confirmed again.

 

Confirm the deletion by clicking the Yes button.
